Took a road trip down to Hillsboro, OR a couple of days ago to see the acorn woodpeckers there. I'd never seen one in person, only other peoples' photos, and I wanted to get some for myself. I was not disappointed! These are extremely photogenic, striking-looking birds, and not terribly shy. I was able to get a number of shots from distances close enough that I actually had to back off the zoom a bit! I spent a couple of hours with them, and got nearly 200 photos! :)
