In the old forum software, we had a menu item called "active topics", it showed, as the name implies, active topics. It's how most of the members who visited often navigated the forum.

In this forum software, that option is now it's called "What's New?" It works like the old active topics.

There are two menu items at the top of the page. One is "What's New?" and the other is "New Posts"
"What's New?" are all of the posts with recent activity, whether you've read them or not. In the old software, that was known as "Active Topics". Same idea, new name.
"New posts" is, as the name implies, posts that are new. If you're logged in, they will be posts you haven't read.

The difference is subtle, especially if you're not a logged in member. Try them both and see which one works best for you. I typically check them both each time I visit.
