Paul Allen's Flying Heritage Collection has one of the world's two airworthy Bf-109E-3's and the only one flying with its original DB601 engine. the plane took part in the Battle of Britain, and was hit and damaged over the Channel. its pilot turned for home, and made it as far as the French coast before the aircraft crashed, killing the pilot. the plane was not seen again until 1988, when it was discovered by a Frenchman walking on the beach near Calais, who spotted a piece of metal sticking out of the sand... the tip of this plane's wing! these were taken on 9/19 at FHC's "free fly day" event at Paine Field...
