Some dragonflys at Chase Lake on Friday (6/28).

5D Mk III + 100-400L zoom + 1.4 teleconverter.

I found these guys are to get with the camera for me... In that last pic is that water or ?? Were those handheld or tripod? nice shots

Those were all taken handheld with the 5D MkIII + 100-400L zoom + 1.4x teleconverter. In the last photo the dragonfly was perched on a stick that was sticking out of the water.
 
Two more taken in my backyard later the same day while I was photographing the nesting Bewick's wren. The bright, direct sunlight was a real problem.

Fun to (try to) photograph when they're active and the light is just right. Two ponds in Whatcom Falls Park are great when the 'dragons' are flying..
