this is a 3-shot composite taken from Ecola Point State Park, just south of Seaside, OR, looking south toward Cannon Beach. even at this reduced size, you can make out Haystack Rock in the distance. image was shot in 3 frames using a Canon 30D and Tamron SP24-135 lens at 24mm, 1/25 @ f/18, and stitched into a panoramic using ArcSoft PMK3 software. it makes a lovely 12x36 print, and there's no trace of where the images were joined... :D

Nice job with a traditional Oregon Coast photo spot. No matter how many different photos I see from this location no two seem to be alike. The weather, the surf, the vegetation, and the photographer all conspire to come up with something fun to see.

I'm heading to Pacific City at the first of April so I hope to have some ideal condition for photography.

thanks, Steve. i've seen a number of shots from this vantage point myself, but very few panoramics... and the curve of the coastline here lends itself so perfectly to a pano composition!

Beautiful shot. I haven't seen this particular setting yet in photo or in person.

I will be making my first trip to the PNW coastline next month. Hoping for clouds...storms....and a big colorful sunset. (It doesn't hurt to dream)

if you have a chance, Leia, Ecola Point State Park is worth a visit. it's right off highway 101, about 6 miles south of Seaside. obviously, the view is spectacular, and i imagine if you were there at sunset, you'd get some very dramatic images!

Thanks, Rocky.

I am curious. Is that beach front in your image easily accessible? Do you have any other shots from that area?

Leia, the beach in the foreground is called Indian Beach, i think, and i believe you can get to it from Ecola Point park, though i don't know how easily accessible it is. i have a couple of shots taken from Cannon Beach itself, but not much else from Ecola... at least not that i saved!
