paid a visit to the Point Edwards retention pond this afternoon to see if the hooded mergansers were there... they were, a pair, just kinda chillin'. they swam back and forth, looking for all the world like ducks in a shooting gallery, before they finally settled down at one end of the pond for a snooze. the sun was already behind the condos, which made for shady light and high ISO, but at least the whites didn't blow as badly as they would have in brighter light!

Good shots. Daren and I were up there shortly before you. The hoodies were not as skittish as others I have seen there in the past. The spread of the cattails has greatly reduced the open water in the pond since I started photographing there a few years ago.
