We have been seeing some nice shots of the SP4449 on the Holiday Express.

I thought it might be fun to post some other views of the same engine in different situations. Here is one of mine from 2007. I have many more, but they are all in slide form. If you're interested, please go ahead and add your own shots.

SP 4449 leads UP 844 Excursion
Double-headed Union Pacific steam excursion running at track speed at Richfield, Washington. SP 4449, owned by the City of Portland, Oregon with X844 in the number boards, helps UP 844, owned and operated by the Union Pacific Railroad, on an excursion from Portland to Seattle. The UP also owns the immaculate 1950's-era streamlined passenger car fleet.

Now that's the shot I wanted. I like the POV where I can see the train as a whole and not just the front. Like a hunter I'll continue to pursue my trophy.

OMG ... I see Janice beginning to chase trains, or stand in front of them, depending on her mood that day ...

Great shot. You certainly found a good spot for the shot. I like how the smoke thins out over the cars.

Step 1, find a section of track without a fence along it.
