this little fellow came in close enough for a half decent shot at Juanita Bay this afternoon... usually, they stay too far out for decent pictures, but every once in a while they come in where i can shoot 'em! ;) 40D, 400mm, 1/1000 @ f/6.3...

That was very thoughtful of this grebe. I spent the entire morning in a very nippy blind today and all the waterfowl stayed just out of lens reach. To make it worse the sun was coming from the wrong direction. That's what I get for not checking the photographer's ephemeris before heading out.

Nicely captured.
