Here are some shots from last night and this morning from the top of Steptoe Butte--the guardian of the Palouse. The meterorite shower was a bust, but all in all it was a great, but VERY windy time.

The second one, Moon and the Planet, I took one about the same time but in Eastern Oregon, I took a look at it on camera screen and dumped it, I should have posted it, what a hoot if we had two of the same.

That's gorgeous...

I'm not familiar with that area at all. The state parks page says Steptoe Butte is day use only and there is no camping. Are there areas available in the general vicinity for a couple night stay?

Thanks,
Wally

Places to stay on the Palouse

There's a small campground in the town of Steptoe (about 5 miles from the Butte) as well as at Kamiak Butte (between Pullman and Palouse). Both Colfax and Pullman have hotels (better restaurants in Pullman). Harvest is rapidly progressing, so now is the time to come for peak photos of summer on the Palouse.
