i love wood ducks... they're so colorful! unfortunately, they're also quite shy, and will generally swim away at the approach of humans. sometimes, if people are already present and not moving or making noise, they will approach, but at the first sign of activity on the part of watchers, they'll usually turn around and move away. this handsome fellow came in close enough for some good shots, and the winter sun lit up his plumage quite nicely... 40D, 400mm, 1/800 @ f/6.3

I love 'em, and I suspect other folks do too...

Since I couldn't think of much to say other than "Wow!" and maybe "Gee, your stuff makes my bird photos look really bad!", I didn't post a reply. ;)

You'll notice that the one you posted over in the gallery has been used as the thumbnail for that category. That's how much I liked that shot.

Meanwhile, sometimes good photos don't get much of a response, even though folks enjoy viewing them. Not sure why, but it's probably because folks don't like simply saying "Nice photo!"

The detail and colors in these are great...

Got any more? If so, post away, either here or in the gallery, whichever you prefer.
