Default Lamborghini Murcielago SV

Since it's Super Bowl Sunday, I thought I'd toss up a couple shots I took of a super car that showed up outside of my office a week ago:

That's one of only ~230 examples of the Lamborghini Murcielago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce which exist. Retail price $450,000, with a 6.5L V12 that puts out 661 hp and permits a top speed in excess of 210 mph.

Here's the proud owner posing with the car while wearing his Lamborghini jacket. He explained that only three of the SVs were painted lime green, and his is the only one which was shipped to the US. A super-duper-rare version of a super-rare car! The photo shoot had been scheduled to debunk numerous faked shots posted on the 'net about lime green SVs showing up elsewhere in the US, and I was just lucky enough to a) stumble upon it happening in a public space and b) have my camera on me.

Notice the hand entering the frame in that shot? As I fired the shutter, my coworker was in the process of pointing out to the proud owner that...

Oops!

it's funny how so many of the people that own 150+ mph supercars are people who won't ever drive them faster than 75... what a waste!! and why spend half a million bucks on a car you can't legally get out of second gear???

You can tell what a person looks like from half of the back of their hand?

Oh, OK -- that was the assistant to the guy running the photo shoot. I never caught their names or that of their business.

Is there an influx of supercars around here lately? First the Carrera GT now the LP 670SV? What's going on with cool cars in Washington?

Was it luck that the car appeared where it did? Or did the owner have an appointment with someone?

Got me, Reed, but I ain't complaining! Often there will be two Ferrari convertibles in the RESERVED FOR BUILDING MANAGEMENT spaces in my office building's parking garage, and they're always fun to look at.

I'm still quite puzzled about why they chose that particular location for the shoot; it isn't particularly scenic, unless they decided that for some reason the surrounding buildings complimented the car's paint. Or maybe the owner works for Microsoft in City Center Plaza and it was a convenient location for him; I suppose he could have left his Rolls Phantom at home for a day and commuted in the SV instead.

Regardless, I got my shots because a coworker happened to look out the window and said, "hey, guys, there's a Lamborghini outside." Fifteen seconds later I was jabbing the down button at the elevator with my camera in hand.
