Mt. Baker Autumn

Mt. Baker viewed from Artist Ridge Trail. Taken a week before they closed the road to Artist Point, this is a 3-shot HDR composite taken with a 40D, Tamron 17-35 @ 17mm, using grad 4ND filter.
Oh my.

That covers the photo. Now, please tell me that the closure of the road that leads to a place as breathtaking as this is only temporary....

That didn't quite say it all. I am just getting familiar with HDR. This is the first I have seen done on this kind of setting. Most are of twilight or night shots of buildings. Is HDR the reason the trees on the mountainside are so very sharp? Or why the shadows in the snow show up so well? Your photo has a 3-D look to it--you look into it instead of at it. Is that what HDR does? I still need to be told that I am looking at a composite, but someday soon I will spot one. Of the HDRs I have seen so far, I like this one best.
