Very nice Steve. It looks like you got some great photos of the animals doing what they do...and had some fun doing it.
Ridgefield is fun for sure.

Nice work in 2011! I really like the wine glasses photo...make me want to go have a glass!
-
Great series! I love March because it is very mysterious.

I love the pans Bob! Panning really gives a looks of realism to the models...in fact these are some of the most realistic looking model photos I've seen. Nice work!

Here's my top 11 selections for 2011. It was a great year of photography for me which included not just photography but the fun and friendships that go along with it. All the images in my first cut have some special meaning to me which made culling even tougher.
So long 2011, it's been good...

On October 1 I participated in one of the Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalks at the Pike Place Market in Seattle. Prior to the official walk I spent some time with a couple of fellow Portland photographers wandering around town. The weather was well, typical for Seattle this time of the year. No...

The thunderstorm started just after 9pm with sunset occurring around 9:15pm. The lightning didn't start to appear until 9:25pm. I set up and began taking 20-30 second exposures so that I could capture the lightning. As the storm progressed the setting sun lit more and more of the scene...

In July my family and I traveled to Central Montana for our annual get together. As it ended up the weather was absolutely perfect for photography. Warm sunny days followed by an afternoon thunderstorm...everday for 7 days! I was so lucky to have such great weather.
We stayed at a cabin...

Love it! The colors are wonderful. The Palouse is one of my favorite places (especially after living there for 4 years)! You are lucky ront.

Here's the B&W version for you. While working on this version I tried several of my favorite LR presets and ended up with 4 version of this I really like. Thanks for prompting me to take another look.

Here's a photo from a recent trip I took to the Oregon Cascades. It was a lovely June day in the mountains featuring rain and clouds followed later by sun. Great for growing trees!

I think you are right on there Janice. I've visited all of these spots before so I had to take a look around and find some other way to capture the essence of the area.

Thanks to an invite from FoamersNW I headed to the Columbia River Gorge for the second time in two weeks. The goal was to give some friends a tour through the waterfall area, see a few trains, and photograph interesting stuff.
At Wahkeena Falls the group moved all around capturing...

All are very nice! Isn't is great living in the Northwest? The gray wet days we endure are rewarded with beauty like this.

This was developed in Lightroom. Looking at the original it lacked punch so through various experiments I ended up doing a few things:
Temp +100
Exposure +1.11 (this is what causes the trees and grass in the foreground to pop)
Blacks +31 (this is what keeps the darks dark)
Contrast +8...

There were a bunch of showers moving south to north. Behind me to the west was a pretty good break in the clouds which let the sun stream through. There was a rain shower just crossing the Cascades and starting to dump on the hills in the background.

I had a chance to travel into the Columbia River Gorge yesterday. The weather was a mix of showers and sun breaks which I was able to capture near Beacon Rock.

A couple of weeks ago I found myself walking the Historic Columbia River Highway at Tanner Creek. The forest and the fog caught my eye.

Like most photographers I like to reflect back on the year that was. It is an interesting journey through the year as I get to relive the big and small events that formed my photographic year. I always try to be critical and pick the best images but sometimes the emotions get in the way and...
