today was "Luftwaffe Day" at the FHC, so they flew the Bf109 and FW190... got some decent shots with the 7D and 100-400, all at 1/125 in Tv mode...

I got a few shots from the Boeing athletic fields where my son was participating n the Special Olympics state softball tournament.

thanks, Chad! getting clear shots from the ground is harder than it seems... if they were jets, it'd be a snap, just set the shutter for 1/500 and you're golden, but setting the shutter for 1/125 to blur the props means the airplanes are often blurry as well, since they're moving at 200 mph and it's very difficult to pan at that "just right" speed to freeze the planes and still blur the props... out of a hundred or more shots at an event like this, i might get only 6 or 8 that are worth keeping, and only half might would be suitable for printing. it'd be much easier from another plane, because the subject is moving much slower, if at all, relative to the camera, and it's easier to get a good focus on the target aircraft. alas, i'm earthbound, and have to take my chances and hope for the best...
