They are adorable. Actually, I don't see them often. I just get the red fox squirrels. I only see the Douglas squirrels in Tryon Creek State Park.

Those are beautiful shots, Janice.

I didn't even know about Douglass Squirrels till we went to Stubb Stewart St Park three or four years ago. It was awful. The only good thing was these tiny black squirrels we saw there. We didn't know squirrels got that small.

A week later, a Douglass Squirrel showed up in our back yard, chasing all our reds and grays. It stayed for about two years or so, then another one showed up, a kinder, gentler one. They had three babies, so we have a few pictures of them I will post when my husband sends them. So cute! :rolleyes: C.
 
The Douglas squirrels have been pretty much run off by the fox squirrels which aren't native. I rarely see a gray. Saw one in my neighborhood for the first time since I've lived here. I've seen them elsewhere.

They are cute, that is for sure.
