Not sure if the female has been taking notes from the Flamingos or just doesn't want to sleep on ice...

If you have not change anything in this with PhohtoShop, I would leave it as is..

The usual adjustments and contrast tweaks in Photoshop. I also did one small edit, deleting a small "poopsicle" under the one legged duck. It wasn't adding much to the image.

But other than that, the image you see is as shot, she(?) really was sleeping while standing on one leg, while her mate was laying down on his down.

Poopsicle removal done masterfully. Wiped it completely from the image.

Maybe she wants to be able to make a quick get away.

Probably a good idea, as they were sleeping in the Hippo pond! It's quite common for birds to sleep like that, I have a parrot, and when you pick her up after she's been sleeping one claw is noticably cool while the other one that was tucked up in her feathers is toasty warm. They switch off from time to time.

I don't know how often ducks do that though. I can't recall seeing it before, but maybe I've just never paid attention. I'm not around sleeping ducks very often either.
