I managed to get some free time from work and I decided to go and look for some birds, it was interesting enough for me to spot this hummingbird and it wasn't camera shy at all, it seems it wanted it's picture taken and it hung around for a long time and it flew very close to me from one branch to another trying to get my attention.:D
A local resident told me that this bird and another lives and hangs around the Edmonds area all year round.

Nice bird shots, I like the lighting and backdrop of the first one the best.

I attended a seminar last year where the instructors suggested setting up hummingbird feeders in the back yard - once the feeding station is established you can prop flowers in front of it and shoot from the other side, looks like you are getting hummingbirds at the flowers.

Nice shots, man :)

I agree with Deddo, I love the background in the first image. The blue really sets it off.

But 2 and 3 have a very cool natural mosaic feel to them. All nice shots.

Cool stuff. Cool birds.

Nice compositions on the little hummers. They are pretty small so you have to be really careful about focusing, often times having to manual focus to get them, as the auto focus may have problems locking on their small bodies among all the other items..

These are "Annas" hummingbirds. They often winter over in the area here. If you leave a feeder out they will hit it often during the winter, but not as often as later in spring and summer. Their main food source this time of year is actually small insects on trees. I've had them at the house over winter for over 10 year now. Had to bring the feeder in at night the last couple of nights, but it stays thawed pretty well during the day.
