Midweek trip to Vancouver WA and Beaverton OR to visit family. Excited to spend a few hours at Ridgefield with my daughter and son-in-law on Friday afternoon.
The birds and other wildlife were in abundance.

I haven't done much inflight photography but was pleased with results, really ready for a longer lens! Continue to be impressed with the focus system in the 7d ll.

Canon 7d ll, EF 70-200mm 1:2.8L IS ll, Extender EF 1.4 lll

what a treat to see one of those! you got some nice flight shots here, Debbie. if you don't mind my saying, though, the whites are a bit too 'hot', especially in the first one. the last one's the best for exposure.

Good shots, Debbie. I love Ridgefield.

Like Rocky said, you must underexpose the shots of bright, white birds a little to avoid blowing out the details, especially when the sun is coming in from a low angle like in the winter. I have the same problem with our local gulls and eagles.

Yes, I see it now. I will have to double check what my exposure compensation was at. Our visit was only possible between 1pm and 3pm and the overcast day gave way to the sunshine! I will go back and see if I caused any of the loss of highlights with my edit. Are they truly blown out or can I tweet them some. Thank you both for the input!

Nice shots, Debbie...I think it is possible that you can tone down the whites in your editing program.
