I see these little bugs flitting around all the time but until I took a picture of this crane fly did I notice two little appendages on it's thorax that looked like antennae. Inquiring minds want to know . . . What are they? I found they are called halters and are used to balance him in flight. Like little outriggers I guess. Pretty cool I thought.
